Chapter 6 · Verse 33 · Dhyana Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 6.33
Sanskrit
अर्जुन उवाच योऽयं योगस्त्वया प्रोक्तः साम्येन मधुसूदन। एतस्याहं न पश्यामि चञ्चलत्वात् स्थितिं स्थिराम्।।6.33।।
Transliteration
arjuna uvācha yo ’yaṁ yogas tvayā proktaḥ sāmyena madhusūdana etasyāhaṁ na paśhyāmi chañchalatvāt sthitiṁ sthirām
Word by Word
Arjuna speaks the heart's honest question—the mind knows the teaching of equanimity is true, yet the restless nature of consciousness keeps scattering him like wind through clouds. This is not weakness but clarity: he sees that yoga's promise of steadiness feels impossible when the very instrument of practice—the mind—refuses to settle.
For us today, this confession dissolves the illusion that spiritual practice should feel easy; it invites us to meet our actual condition with compassion, not judgment.
