Chapter 6 · Verse 32 · Dhyana Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 6.32
Sanskrit
आत्मौपम्येन सर्वत्र समं पश्यति योऽर्जुन। सुखं वा यदि वा दुःखं सः योगी परमो मतः।।6.32।।
Transliteration
ātmaupamyena sarvatra samaṁ paśhyati yo ’rjuna sukhaṁ vā yadi vā duḥkhaṁ sa yogī paramo mataḥ
Word by Word
This verse reveals the supreme fruit of yoga: the capacity to see the Self reflected equally in all beings, whether they experience joy or sorrow. When the yogi perceives the atman—the eternal witness—in every heart, the distinction between comfort and pain dissolves into a unified vision of Brahman pervading all existence.
In our modern lives of constant comparison and emotional reactivity, this teaching invites us to pause and ask: can I recognize the same divine essence in the person I admire and the one I judge, in my moments of triumph and my seasons of loss?
