Chapter 2 · Verse 67 · Sankhya Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 2.67
Sanskrit
इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते। तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि।।2.67।।
Transliteration
indriyāṇāṁ hi charatāṁ yan mano ’nuvidhīyate tadasya harati prajñāṁ vāyur nāvam ivāmbhasi
Word by Word
When the mind chases the roaming senses like a ship without an anchor, even the sharpest intellect becomes useless—swept away by the winds of desire. This is not judgment; it is the physics of consciousness: an undisciplined mind cannot hold wisdom, just as a boat without a rudder cannot hold its course.
The teaching invites us to ask: where is my attention truly anchored right now, and am I steering my own ship, or being steered by every passing wind of craving?
