Chapter 2 · Verse 36 · Sankhya Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 2.36
Sanskrit
Transliteration
avāchya-vādānśh cha bahūn vadiṣhyanti tavāhitāḥ nindantastava sāmarthyaṁ tato duḥkhataraṁ nu kim
Word by Word
Krishna speaks a truth that pierces the heart of the seeker: your enemies will always find words to wound you, to diminish your courage and capacity. This is the nature of the world—criticism flows like water toward stone.
Yet hear the deeper teaching: what pain could be greater than the pain you already carry by doubting yourself? When you stand rooted in your dharma, external slander becomes merely noise.
In your own spiritual work today, notice where you give others' words more weight than your own inner knowing.
