Chapter 2 · Verse 13 · Sankhya Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 2.13
Sanskrit
Transliteration
dehino ’smin yathā dehe kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā tathā dehāntara-prāptir dhīras tatra na muhyati
Word by Word
Just as the embodied soul naturally transitions from childhood to youth to old age within a single lifetime, so too does consciousness move from one body to another across lifetimes—this is the eternal law of becoming. The wise one, grounded in this understanding, does not become bewildered by the apparent death of the body, for they recognize the deathless Self that witnesses all these changes.
When you truly internalize that you are not your body but the unchanging awareness inhabiting it, the fear of change and mortality dissolves into a serene acceptance of life's eternal continuity.
