Bhagavad Gita 10.34
Sanskrit
मृत्युः सर्वहरश्चाहमुद्भवश्च भविष्यताम्। कीर्तिः श्रीर्वाक्च नारीणां स्मृतिर्मेधा धृतिः क्षमा।।10.34।।
Transliteration
mṛityuḥ sarva-haraśh chāham udbhavaśh cha bhaviṣhyatām kīrtiḥ śhrīr vāk cha nārīṇāṁ smṛitir medhā dhṛitiḥ kṣhamā
Word by Word
Krishna reveals himself as the inexorable force of death that dissolves all forms, yet also as the origin of all future becoming—teaching us that destruction and creation are not opposites but the same divine rhythm. Among the qualities that endure and define human excellence, he claims fame, beauty, speech, memory, intelligence, courage, and forgiveness as his own manifestations.
When you recognize that both endings and beginnings belong to the Divine, you cease clinging to permanence, and instead cultivate the inner qualities—wisdom, courage, forgiveness—that reflect the eternal within the temporal.
