bhīṣhma-droṇa-pramukhataḥ sarveṣhāṁ cha mahī-kṣhitām uvācha pārtha paśhyaitān samavetān kurūn iti
Word by Word
In this moment, Sanjaya narrates the scene where Arjuna stands before the assembled armies—Bhishma and Drona leading the forces of his own kinsmen. This is the threshold where inner conflict becomes visible: Arjuna sees not enemies, but his beloved teachers, elders, and relatives arrayed for battle.
The Gita reveals that our greatest spiritual crises often arise not from meeting strangers, but from confronting duty that fractures our attachments and comfort. When life asks you to act against what your heart clings to, remember that the clarity to see the situation fully—as Arjuna does here—is the first step toward wisdom and right action.
