Simplified Perspective

Arjuna stands at the threshold where the mind measures itself against the world—counting soldiers, assessing strength, comparing forces. But this verse holds a secret: the moment we begin to measure ourselves through external circumstance, we have already lost our center.

The Pandava army appears insufficient because Arjuna's consciousness has contracted into the small self that compares and calculates. In your own moments of doubt, notice how fear always begins with measurement—of time, resources, capability—rather than with trust in the dharma of right action itself.
