Simplified Perspective

Krishna lifts the veil here—even the virtuous, the devoted, the saintly kings who have earned merit through lifetimes of dharma eventually taste the truth: this world, for all its glitter, remains fleeting and hollow. The moment you truly see this impermanence, the only response is surrender into devotion.

When you stop clinging to positions, accomplishments, and stations—when you accept that nothing here can hold you—you finally turn toward what is eternal, and that turning is bhakti itself.
