Chapter 9 · Verse 19 · Raja Vidya Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 9.19
Sanskrit
तपाम्यहमहं वर्षं निगृह्णाम्युत्सृजामि च। अमृतं चैव मृत्युश्च सदसच्चाहमर्जुन।।9.19।।
Transliteration
tapāmyaham ahaṁ varṣhaṁ nigṛihṇāmyutsṛijāmi cha amṛitaṁ chaiva mṛityuśh cha sad asach chāham arjuna
Word by Word
Krishna reveals the ultimate paradox of divinity: He is the heat that sustains all life, the rain that nourishes crops, yet also the force that withholds and withdraws. He is both immortality and death, the eternal spirit and the temporary forms—nothing exists outside His sovereignty.
This verse shatters the illusion that life happens to us; it invites us to recognize that the very breath we draw, the abundance we receive, and the losses we fear are all expressions of the one consciousness moving through existence. When you understand that the same divine intelligence that births stars also orchestrates your heartbeat, fear dissolves into wonder.
