Chapter 8 · Verse 5 · Akshara Brahma Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 8.5
Sanskrit
अन्तकाले च मामेव स्मरन्मुक्त्वा कलेवरम्। यः प्रयाति स मद्भावं याति नास्त्यत्र संशयः।।8.5।।
Transliteration
anta-kāle cha mām eva smaran muktvā kalevaram yaḥ prayāti sa mad-bhāvaṁ yāti nāstyatra sanśhayaḥ
Word by Word
In your final breath, consciousness becomes your truest offering. Krishna promises that whatever fills your mind at death—your deepest love, your constant remembrance—that becomes your destination, your very nature in what follows.
This is not reward or punishment, but the simple law of consciousness itself: you become what you contemplate. For us today, this means every act of remembrance, every prayer, every moment of turning inward toward the Divine is not separate from our death—it is already shaping our eternity, right now.
