Simplified Perspective

The sage described here has transcended the dualistic dance of pleasure and pain that binds ordinary consciousness. Like a lotus leaf untouched by water, the enlightened mind remains serene whether storms of sorrow arrive or waves of joy pass through.

This is not numbness or detachment from life, but the freedom that comes when you stop demanding reality to match your preferences. When you release your death grip on what you want and your terror of what you fear, you discover the unshakeable ground beneath both—and that ground is your true nature.
