Simplified Perspective

Krishna speaks here not as a judge, but as a mirror of cosmic law: when we abandon our sacred duty, we do not escape consequence—we invite it. The Rishis understood that dharma is not a burden imposed from outside, but the very structure of our being; to reject it is to reject ourselves.

When you turn away from what you are called to do, you do not find peace or purity, but a quiet erosion of soul and purpose. In modern life, this means that avoiding difficult responsibilities—whether in work, family, or service—always costs more than facing them with integrity.
