Simplified Perspective

This verse reveals the asura's fatal delusion: the belief that the self is the doer, that what is grasped today defines tomorrow, that accumulation is security. The Gita shows us how this grasping mind creates bondage—each possession becomes a chain, each future desire a prison.

When we release the illusion of ownership and recognize that all wealth, all gain, all loss flows through us rather than from us, we step into freedom even while acting in the world.
