धृतराष्ट्र उवाच धर्मक्षेत्रे कुरुक्षेत्रे समवेता युयुत्सवः। मामकाः पाण्डवाश्चैव किमकुर्वत सञ्जय।।1.1।।

dhṛitarāśhtra uvācha dharma-kṣhetre kuru-kṣhetre samavetā yuyutsavaḥ māmakāḥ pāṇḍavāśhchaiva kimakurvata sañjaya
हिंदी अर्थ
धृतराष्ट्र कुरुक्षेत्र में एकत्रित अपनी सेना और पांडवों की सेना को देखकर संजय से पूछते हैं कि धर्मभूमि पर युद्ध के लिए तैयार मेरे लोग और पांडव क्या कर रहे हैं। इस प्रकार भगवान कृष्ण और अर्जुन के बीच होने वाले दिव्य संवाद की शुरुआत होती है जो मानव जीवन को सही दिशा दिखाता है।
