Chapter 6 · Verse 46 · Dhyana Yoga
Bhagavad Gita 6.46
Sanskrit
तपस्विभ्योऽधिको योगी ज्ञानिभ्योऽपि मतोऽधिकः। कर्मिभ्यश्चाधिको योगी तस्माद्योगी भवार्जुन।।6.46।।
Transliteration
tapasvibhyo ’dhiko yogī jñānibhyo ’pi mato ’dhikaḥ karmibhyaśh chādhiko yogī tasmād yogī bhavārjuna
Word by Word
Krishna places the yogi—the one who unites individual consciousness with universal consciousness through steady practice—above all other spiritual paths. The ascetic renounces the world, the scholar accumulates knowledge, the ritualist performs duties, but the yogi integrates all three into a living, breathing communion with the Divine.
This is not superiority of ego, but the natural flowering of a practice that dissolves the boundaries between knower and known. In your modern life, this means that sustained inner discipline—meditation, mindfulness, conscious presence—transforms every action into an offering and every moment into enlightenment.
