Transliteration

yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇaṁ jñāna-sañchhinna-sanśhayam ātmavantaṁ na karmāṇi nibadhnanti dhanañjaya

Word by Word

yoga-sannyasta-karmāṇam those who renounce ritualistic karm, dedicating their body, mind, and soul to God
jñāna by knowledge
sañchhinna dispelled
sanśhayam doubts
ātma-vantam situated in knowledge of the self
na not
karmāṇi actions
nibadhnanti bind
dhanañjaya Arjun, the conqueror of wealth
Simplified Perspective

When knowledge of the Self burns away doubt like fire consuming kindling, you stand free—not because actions cease, but because the doer-sense dissolves. The karma-bound person sees themselves as the actor; the Self-realized person sees only the cosmic play moving through them, untouched and eternal.

This is not escape from life but its deepest fulfillment: you work with full presence while resting in the unchanging witness. When you surrender your actions to God and ground yourself in honest self-inquiry, even your daily responsibilities—work, relationships, decisions—become the very temple where you meet the Divine.
