Simplified Perspective

Krishna reveals here the supreme measure of a devotee: one who has transcended the tyranny of others' opinions and his own reactive emotions. When you no longer need the world to validate you, nor do you disturb the world with your neediness, you have discovered the freedom that bhakti alone can grant.

This is not cold detachment but the warmth of a heart so anchored in divine love that pleasure and pain, praise and blame, no longer shake its foundation. In modern life, this means building your worth from within—from your connection to something greater—so that you can serve without anxiety, speak truth without approval-seeking, and remain unshaken whether celebrated or criticized.
